Indomitable Blade is a roguelike tactics RPG in which players experience the fate of the dying kingdom of Klövsdal and its Hornese from the perspective of the Earl, Freyja.
The player, who has only a limited army against the overwhelming power of the enemy, must constantly use his wits to overturn the inferiority of the enemy's forces. All stats are subject to damage, and recovery resources are limited, so even the most powerful soldiers can be easily killed depending on how they behave.
In this roguelike battlefield, where even story branches change randomly, will you be able to stand up to despair as a commander?
The warfare in the kingdom of Klövsdal between Hornese and Lausraumese is depicted from the perspective of the Hornese Earl Freyja.
The Horns, who had military superiority through their unique magic of spiritism, were optimistic when Lausraumese, who once fought for control of Klövsdal, invaded the peninsula again. How will you face that future when you realize that it is doomed?
In this work, normal attacks can damage all stats. Even a well-defended foe will be stripped bare if his defenses are reduced, and even a warrior with superior strength will quickly lose his offensive power.
Weakened parameters cannot be easily recovered, so players must also ensure that each unit does not lose any of its qualities.
The companions under Freyja's command die and never come back to life. If they cannot advance any further, players can surrender to the enemy and end the story themselves.
Players can take over items and other items to challenge the battlefield as many times as they wish, with randomly changing companions and storylines.
Around 266 years after the founding of Klövsdal, the Kingdom of Klövsdal, located on the Vinterhorn Peninsula, was in the midst of a war with the Confederation of Yellisinia.
The two sides, which belonged to different ethnic groups, Hornese and Lausraumese, had long been trying to come to terms with each other. However, the royal family of the Kingdom of Eikuord was involved in a dispute between clans within Klövsdal, and the incident led to an invasion of the Vinterhorn Peninsula by the Yellisinia Confederacy, using it as a pretext for their war.
Hornese had a military advantage because of their supernatural powers, called spirit arts. The druids protected the borders and other strategic points, and the Lausraumese should not have been able to penetrate them easily, but this was the first time they allowed a large army to invade.
The Second Vinterhorn War began, and Earl Freyja also became embroiled in the war.
The main focus of this work is the fight against despair, both in terms of story and gameplay.
The protagonist, Freyja, leads the Hornese into battle, but they are gradually outnumbered by Lausraumese, whose population is ten times that of the Hornese. There are no exhilarating reversals or legendary swords to turn the tide. You must swallow the reality of the situation and face up to it, even if you are overcome with despair.
Players must also survive each battle with their limited units. Recovery resources are limited, and a single misstep can cost a fellow player his life and never bring him back to life. Even at the risk of losing everything you have built up in an instant, you have no choice but to go into battle with courage.
